Cool To Lift or Lower which is the best way to level?

I have and 08 1500 QC 4x4, I want to level it have been researching a 2" lift, but have seen a number of guys are having problems with them. I since have been researching a 2" lowering kit for the rear, but I cannot find anyone who has installed it, does anyone have an opinon on which would be better? Really don't want to stress the cv axles with a lift and I really don't plan on putting on huge tires maybe just a 285/55/20, thanks for any and all repiles.

If you want taller tires I would opt for a lift.

Those aren't any taller unless he has 17s which I don't think he does. Just wider. In which case unless you lift or get wheels with better backspacing won't clear the arms and will rub

I do have the stock 20's, I would would rather lift, but I don't want to run into problems down the road with the cv angles, also you think a set of 285/55/20 will rub unless I lift or change the backspacing, thanks for the replies

You won't run into any major problems with a 2" level. Might wear out tie rod ends/ball joints a bit sooner, but they'd wear and need replacement at some point anyway. Just keep the level close to 2" and you'll be fine.

With a coil over IFS front ('06-'08 4x4s) you'll pretty much be limited to 11" of tire width with the stock wheels...
