Default Coming up on 30K, you know what that means

Time for spark plugs! Yay! Well anyways I plan on tackling this job myself and after reading some I know that the back plugs are a b****, I need the plug socket attachment and I'm staying with the coppers. But I have read once or twice about new plug wires as well? What's the deal with that? Do I really need them (or is it worth it). I like Hammer's motto of "make every repair a mod" so if I can get better ones then I will. And also how do I go about changing the wires? Sorry for the 20 questions but I wanna get this right.

P.S. I'm not doing this until December when I'm out of school for winter break.

You have no plug wires. IMO, it isn't necessary to change the plugs that soon. When I did my C at 49K, the gaps weren't very bad (.050 to .053). I used NGK 5306s in both Hemis.

Yep-- he's right-- the later models 5.7's (2006 and up?) don't have wires. The coil packs are right on top of the plugs. Yes, they are a b*tch. Be ready to remove each front tire and wheel liner to get to the firewall side ones. 30k is simply a recommendation- I went 43k before changing mine with no problems. I used Champion coppers as well- I don't see any need to spend any more on gimmicky plugs myself. Remember to buy 16 of them when you do buy them.

You could simply pull one from one of the front cylinders and inspect it to see if you should replace them yet or not.

I cleaned the throttle body when I did my intake but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to do it again and I'll look into the PCV valve since I didn't know about that. Thanks

I did my plugs at 32k miles and it seemed like a waste, imo. I have a few friends with Hemi's in various trucks and all have done theirs later.

If you feel better, do it ! It can wait tho
