Default tail lights, what do you think?

I found these tail lights on eBay. I think they look awesome, but wonder if they are truly street legal. Also, I don't see any red reflector. I doubt it's legal to have clear brake lights. What is your opinion?

I'm not overly fond of the Altezza style lights. None of the lights will be clear. You are supposed to install the chromed red and/or amber light bulbs.

So the entire unit will still be clear, until you apply the brake or turn your lights on? Are the red bulbs easy to find or special order?

Keep in mind, on very clear lenses, once you put red or amber bulbs in, that reflector tends to also look red or amber even when the buls are not lit. Unless you went with LED's that appeared clear until lit. And then you may have to change your flasher to one designed to drive smaller loads.

So basically this tail light set is a lot more work than plug and play, right?

Well, it's not truly plug and play. But, then again, the red and amber lights may be readily available, I don't know. I was just pointing out that when actually installed (with bulbs) they won't appear quite as white and clear as the photo shows. If you like em, get em. Just remember they aren't legal with clear bulbs.

I have seen them in Auto Zone and online at some custom car lighting stores. Your lenses will still appear to be clear because the bulbs have a chrome-like finish on them, but will shine red or amber when the brakes or turn indicators are applied.

Click here to see what I'm refering to.

Do some looking around, you will find a set.

They are legal as long as you use colored bulbs. Order them and while they are being shipped, find some bulbs locally that have the chromed type finish that light up the appropriate color. LED can be used, but you'll have to wire in a resistor. Pretty much just recapping what Scratch said.

Horrible. They would look good on the back of a Honda right underneath the giant aluminum wing.

I like them. They'll look good if you have all the chrome accessories. Other than that, they are sweet.
