Default Fuel Tank recall

Anyone hear of a possible fuel tank recall? I have a crack in the top of my fuel tank on my 2004 Ram 1500. The tank cracked around the metal ring imbedded in the top of the tank. The ring corroded which probably caused the weak point.

My mechanic stated he has never seen a crack like this before. We tried getting a new tank, but couldn't find one. I have a Chrysler/Mopar distribution center in my town and they can't get one because they are back ordered. I am #46 in my area and some have been waiting 6 weeks already.

From talking to my mechanic and some guys at Dodge they have felt there is a design flaw causing the cracks and Dodge is trying to fix it before making any tanks.

Anybody hear anything about it?

The gas tank strap recall was for older ford F150's. I have seen nothing about Ram tank recalls. Go to www.dodge.com/en and click on the "for owners" link. There is a place to check for any recall on your truck by entering your vin number.
