You can also find OEM seat coverings on ebay for much less than what a shop would charge to recover it

Cali, do you have leather or cloth? Sometimes leather can be repaired vs. replaced. I'm going to get my daughter's leather repaired in her 4runner. Actually the part that's torn is vinyl down on the side of the seat, but same difference.

Cloth unfortunately, I'm thinking I will have to go with a seat cover. As for now a simple piece of duct tape is holding it from getting bigger...it really does fix everything. And what would the elimination of the y pipe do performance and sound wise? Just open it up right?

The increased air flow may make a slight difference in exhaust note, but not much. BUT your engine will thank you for getting that POS "Y" pipe the hell out of there...

Is it necessary to have a tuner to get mpg increase after an exhaust mod like getting rid of the y pipe and putting in duals? Or will the stock ECU adjust accordingly?

I believe if you just disconnect the battery during the change out (which you should anyways) it will readjust
