Exclamation 03 ram 4x4 knocking in rear end HELP

I have a 2003 dodge ram 5.9 gas and when i go in reverse i hear a loud knocking noise. if i do it and press the parking brake while moving it stops, then as soon as i let it go it starts again. Now the truck is starting to do it in drive as well. i thought it was the parking brake so i took it apart and there is nothing wrong with it. the u-joints feel tight but how would i know if they are bad? please let me know any suggestions.

Try jacking up the truck and have someone put it in gear and see if you can hear where it is coming from.

I would guess a possible axle bearing or pinion bearing.

They arent, but if anyone else sees this post and has any ideas of what it could be then please feel free to throw ideas out. thank you. also if you know where to get a diagram that shows the names of all the parts in the rear end, that would be great.
