Badly Rusted Hub Bearing ????
Ok I have the wheel on and off three times now and still cant get the hub to budge.
I sprayed where i can with pb rust buster cat. still to no avail.
i used the snap on tool made to fit on the bolts and tryed turning the wheel with truck running on each bolt while pounding on the hub and bearing holder.
nothing moving. tryed a little heat and still nothing.
can i take the steering knuckle off with the hub still attached and then press the hub and bearing out of the knuckle.???
By the way what engineer thought of this design???

Im assuming you live up north where there is salt, sand and snow.
You can take off the spindle or knuckle and do it that way. Heat and leverage will help the most. A good big hammer and penetrating oils like PB Blaster also help but take time.

the question is can i get the knuckle off if the axle and hub still mounted.
i don't think the pb stuff will work on mine since i sprayed on sunday and tryed again yesterday!!!!
and yes i live in new york where we use salt and sand for ice and snow removeal

I'm not sure about the Dana60 axle, but if it's like the ones on the 1500 the axle will just slide out of the hub assembly when you take the entire knuckle off. There should be a little bit of play in the axle itself, so as long as that isn't frozen to the hub it should come right out.
Be careful using the power steering as leverage to get the bearing out. I tried that on mine, and now my steering has a permanent whine to it, and isn't as powerful as it used to be. Basically I blew it out. And the pisser was, the bearing still didn't budge. I finally broke down and took it to a shop where they used heat and got it out lickety split.
so i guess heat it will be, how hot should i get it??? I would guess i should only only heat the bearing part??? anyone???

good luck with it. When I swapped mine out I coated the entire inside where they mate with anti-seize. so I'm hoping to not have that trouble next time. I wish they used anti-seize in the factories when they built these trucks.
