Default 4X4 Issue

Ugghs I feel like this truck is giving me problem after problem. Makes me wanna get rid of it but i love it to much

yesterday I switched to 4x4 and i only went a few feet and it felt weird but i switched it back to 2 wheel and i was driving it i would get a shaking and it felt like one of the wheels was spinning and it would make a noise as if i was peeling out even though i was going straight at 30mph.

so today i tried it again switched to 4x4 drove a few feet i would get like whining noise and felt like it wasnt shifting so i put it back to 2 wheel and again had the isues with the tire screeching and vibration. so i read a little on hear saying to put it in reverse so "unbind" it so i tried that before work and still the same thing in 4x4 made whining noise and then like a clunking noise and when i went back to 2 wheel sound like every time i let off the pedal it would make like a clunk noise but when i go into 2 wheel and it makes that noise i would throw it in park and then it would be fine.

the way i shift into 4x4 is by putting it into neautral and shifting in 4 high. I did read on here to try going 1-2 mph and throwing it in but idk.

It is cold over here in NY now but i dont think it would effect it in those ways and few months back i used the 4x4 and it drove fine. I did change the diff fluid a few months back but 4x4 worked great after it i dont use it that much so i didnt use it after checking it after the change.

any input would be great, also i didnt use the 140 for dif fluid and i am going to be towing a boat this summer but only from the yard to the slip would i be ok doing this or should i change it to 140 gear oil its only a 18ft boat

Thanks
Jacek

Whoa there Jacek, what do you mean by 140 weight? Transfer case DOES NOT use a weighted differential fluid (ie. 75w-140 gear oil) but uses ATF +4 (automatic transmission fluid).

Therein lies your problem...

You'll be fine if the boat is on the lighter side and it's only twice a year. Hipefully you atleast used Synthetic as is req'd?

I have went from 2hi into 4hi at 55mph and back with no issue's. You need to be going very slow or in nuetral for 4lo engagement. You might have a bad 4wd select sensor???
4wd will whine a little if you are on bare pavement. 4hi should shift like normal, 4lo doesn't.
