Hi I have a 05 1500 with 135000 mi. I did an oil change yesterday and used 5w-40 full synthetic for the first time and after about 30 mins I noticed a loud tick coming from the motor! Much louder than normal. Any ideas what it is and how to fix it

I'd tend to blame the oil myself, especially due to the fact it started happening right after the change. There is a reason 5w-20 is specified...

 

probably because you used the wrong weight oil

 

First thing to do IMO is find exactly what it is and where iits coming from. Could be this oil, could be a bad lifter or push rod, could be a broken exhaust manifold bolt and it could be a piston rod getting ready to fly out the side of the block.
