Lifetime warranty questions
I don't have any issues right now with the drive train but am trying to think ahead. I bought my truck new in Aug. 07 and it supposadly came with a "lifetime powertrain warranty". I was wondering if this is a gimmick or not. I don't remember any paperwork on it---always felt it was a bogus sails pitch.
Anyway, with 48,000 miles on my 07 4.7 and hearing of issues with Ram drivelines from 06-08 and knowing the history of the transmissions and LS diffs I am just getting currious as to what to expect WHEN these proplems inevitably start showing up on my truck.
I am also wondering how the level and 35's on it would affect it as well. Seems to me that would be an automatic excuse for not honoring it. I could always put the stockers back on for any dealer trips though, but the leveler would still be there.

You need all your recepits for proof of maintenance or they can deny you.
If you have any differential problems(LSD mostly) they will try to deny you for your 35" tires. They cannot deny you for anything engine related.
Lifetime Powertrain consists of..Original purchaser and to internal engine components, transmission and differentials. i dont think front cv axles are covered?
So, at 47kmi, you'd better have had the front diff serviced @ 30kmi(if eqip'd), rear diff service @30kmi, spark plugs at 30kmi,coolant service..etc if you plan to have them honor anything.

I believe you have to bring the vehicle in to the dealer every 50K for an inspection to keep the warranty in force. The inspection is no charge. Check your owners manual. I would put the stock wheels on as they may try to connect the larger, heavyer wheels as a cause for premature wear on the trans or rear. The lift could be connected to front suspension components only. How hard *** they will be is dependant on the dealer. Good Luck
Figgured it was a gimmick. I kind of remember reading the service manual and seing all these (IMO) rediculis service itinorary's. Oh well, just hope the drive train holds up better then the rest of this POS has.
It's every 5yrs for the inspection

It says Ram chassis cabs are not covered. just so everyone understands, that's for 3500/4500/5500 Industrial use rams(i.e.towing, commercial use..etc)

My thoughts, too.
Sure, the incentive more than likely helped sell more than a few vehicles on that "peace of mind", alone. However, it's a pretty ambitious claim, and all Dodge is asking is that you do your part in maintaining the vehicle as per regular service intervals. Figure that 80% (and that is probably a conservative figure) of all the new Chrysler Corp. vehicles sold with the warranty are NOT going to be extensively modded like the niche crowd here and at other enthusiast forums, and that's quite a few drivetrains they are taking responsibility for.
Follow the service recommendations, document your service and repairs (you do that anyway, don't you?), and you can go into any service dispute against Dodge with the upper hand. I'm sure that CC did a risk analysis before implementing it, predicting how many owners would: A) Still have the vehicle for it's full life expectancy, B) Follow and document service as required, and C) Outright modify the vehicles in a manner which would blatantly void the warranty. Among many other factors, I'm sure.

Way,
I was not going to respond to this post as I find it kind of ironic that someone who has modified their vehicle, probably would be denied coverage because of it, and is stating they will simply return it to stock before taking it in for service is calling the warranty a gimmick. But I figure maybe others would like to know exactly how the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty works and what it covers. So here it is.

when you have the reputation of 99% of chrysler dealerships as being frauds and scam artists, I would certainly put my stock rims and tires back on before I ever took my truck to the dealership. You cant deny the fact that dealerships will find any way possible to not honor their warranty... dont even try.

Such a load of crap. Back up what you say with facts. Plenty of that BS to go around here for sure. If you choose to build a completely impractical and "out of the norm" off road vehicle out of a truck that still has factory warranty...well, then you deserve what happens if they deny you. NO COMPANY will honor warranty if there is blatant and obvious abuse.
