From what they have told me it sounds like the 3rd brakelight isnt sealed properly. They never mentioned what part it was, so I may pull the assembly down and mark em with a sharpie to see what isnt still there when they fix it.

FWIW, I had this problem on the Dakota I used to have, and I have seen this on all kind of vehicles of every make and model. It's just the seal around the 3rd brake light leaking. Mine never leaked in the back window (I had the sliding rear window), but to keep the light from shorting out I removed the cover, lightly RTV'd the edges of the cover, and tightened it back down. Zing!

You backordered part is likely nothing more than a replacement gasket. Sometimes I wish service mechanics would stop acting all mystical about simple repairs, as if giving away the answer means certain doom.

Im hoping that it will be here soon. Everyday this week it has rained a little. I noticed that it doesnt leak sitting still unless it is a driving rain. I put a little tape over the top gap just as a precaution. I will try and take some pics tomorrow. It looks like the brake light is supposed to be sealed, like the headlights, but it looks open. I will snap some pics to put em up on here.

They replaced the whole 3rd brake light assembly on Friday. It has rained a little since and I havent noticed any water. I did notice a severe gap prior to the swap. Looked like the light seperated, the new one has no gap.

So we will see how long this lasts. LOL.
