Default Radio Install=No Door Lock

Installed my new stereo last weekend. No problems once I bought a multimeter to find my grnd/power/remote. Turned truck on and all speakers and deck works great. Key fob does not unlock/lock/or panic. Interior lights do not turn on when I open door but turn on if the truck is on. Same with door locks, if the truck is running or in accessory the locks will work but with truck completely off I have no door locks or fob. Any idea what could cause this. I thought maybe when I took door panels off I jumbled a wire loose, checked all door locks for jams, and checked all fuses and everything seems to be in order.

Thanks

I was told that unless you used a factory/aftermarket harness you can run into problems such as you are having. These trucks utilize multiple wires to accomplish certain things, sounds like you interrupted one of the wires needed for your door locks function. If and when I get to getting an aftermarket radio I will be getting the harness, even though it is a bit spendy, Good luck.

Since the locks work during some conditions, the problem won't be in the doors. Look into the center stack. You've likely interrupted the "always hot" lead for the keyless entry response.

The previous owner did a hack job on the radio. He must of had an aftermarket radio in then when traded in he hacked all of the stock speakers and HU back in. The stock wiring harness was cut so short that it was not even worth my time fixing. I did buy a Kenwood deck and installed. I utilized only one wire from the stock wires. That was a accessory power wire to use as my remote. My straight power and ground were both run separately as new lines along with all of the speakers. Maybe I need to run to a different accessory wire? What other one could I try using?

Where could I buy a new plug in for the factory radio? So I could install an aftermarket harness after it.

Anywhere that sells Metra wiring adapters should also have the reverse (stock-style) harness.

I need the regular harness. The stock harness. The PO had cut the pigtails way to short.

That's what I said. Metra, the company that makes kits to install radios onto the stock harness, also makes the OTHER end --- a bunch of wires ending in a stock plug.

How about going to a auto wreckers in your area that has a ram out in the yard and just cut it out from their and reattach it to your truck !
Boom back to the stock setup

Looked into it more. When the key is on, The power door locks only work on the drivers side. All other doors do not work. I just do not understand how all of this could happen just from a simple Power/Ground/Remote install in the radio.
