How to remove flex plate on 4.7 v8 2002?
Hi all,
New member here, and hate to come straight in with a question, but I'm having problem pulling the engine out of a Gen 3 2002 4.7 V8.
Been through the haynes, it says to remove the drive plate cover, if fitted, then remove the bolts holding the flex plate to the torque convertor. Well, I cant find the cover... undone everything I can think of, still cant get to the flex plate, and the engine refuses to part company with the tranny!
Can anyone shed any light on how to get at the flex plate?
Any help would be much appreciated!
This truck is a rebuild project since the previous owner had an engine seize a couple of months ago, and has not been able to do anything with it. A bit more checking by yours truly has revealed that the engine appears to of overheated, then popped a couple of valve seats out. The heads are currently away being checked/repaired, and I want to strip the block to see if there is further damage, if not, its getting all new innards and going right back in! Will start posting pics of the whole process once I'm sorted.
