which gears shoud I get

I don't know how you'd have to go about updating your 45RFE to a 545RFE but with my Durango I had to replace the TCM with one from an 02 Cherokee as they had the 545RFE programming in their TCMs. Basically the 45RFE has two sets of planetary gears in it and it only uses one. By updating the software within the TCM you are essentially telling the trans to utilize the second set of planetary gears, thus giving you a second overdrive. I guess technically with the 45RFE you have 5 forward gears (Including 2nd prime) and 6 (also including 2nd prime). If you didn't know the 2nd prime just uses a higher 2nd gear ratio for passing and the likes.
And for your gearz situation, if you don'tplan on getting anything bigger than 35's I would get 4.1s, anything bigger than 4.56 gears. I'm currently debating a 4.1 install on my 4x4 to run 33s, but the parts cost is ridiculous just because I have a 4x4.

$200 for the rear ring & pinion, $225 for the front, $100 for install kit plus fluid cost. I dunno, I guess your definition of REDICULOUS and mine are different. I spend that on gas every month...

Yep, 3/4 ton axle components tend to run a bit higher, although stock 4.10s on the Mega's isn't bad with any tires at or under 35". The 3.73s would kinda suck though and IMO should only be used on CTDs, they have enough low end torque to get away with the lower ratios...

Okay well you having the experience of installing the gears yourself saves you a lot of money. I om the other hand have no experience and don't wish to try and do it myself anyway, leaving the only option to having a shop install them. So I guess if you factor in the parts cost, and the 100/hr labor charges then i would say that yes, my claim of being ridiculous stands as called.

"but the parts cost is ridiculous just because I have a 4x4."
Not to nit-pick, but you said the "parts cost" was ridiculous, you didn't mention labor. Which BTW, is to date the only mod on my truck I paid to have installed. Although technically I know how, I have never set a ring and pinion and although I would not hesitate to try it on a weekend beater, I wasn't about to try it on my truck.
Local shop by me does excellent work, and has done about six sets for DF members, they charge $600 per axle for gears, install kit, fluids and labor. I agree that to do a 4x4 $1200 is a lot of money, but for the performance I got with 35" tires, IMO worth every penny, at least for me.
It's all relative, I know people who drop $3000 to shave 1/4 second off their track times and I know people who would say it's insane. I will say this though, I personally know about two dozen people who have re-geared and have yet to hear any one of them say they regret it...
