Going to make your post-cat O2 sensor unhappy. Have to pass inspection here in Collin County, too. Just my $0.02, but I would think that you might spend more effort and possible headache getting around the problem than it would have been just to solve it outright. ...dunno, maybe not.

Depends on where you live. Counties surrounding the major cities like Houston and Dallas (among others) require emissions checks, while all of the other counties do not. However, as stated, your computer isn't going to like the reading you get from your second O2 sensor, so you may have to do the no-foul trick to keep that CEL off.

i have the Cat gutted on my 98 and my 02, 360's and had to install the sparkplug arrestor setup on my 02 for the engine light. Works good and a bit of a performance gain.

You'll have to check your county's emissions standards first. I know here in Harris county (~20 mi outside of Houston) they do an emissions check, but they only plug into the OBDII port. Since they aren't actively reading the exhaust (with a hose over the tail pipe); the non-fouler trick works.

I cant speak for the hemi's sound because the cats on my hemi are still intact; but when I gutted my old 5.9 it made the exhaust ridiculously loud. Probably didnt help that I paired it with a flowmaster 1 chamber.

If I think about it tomorrow I'll throw up a sound clip of the 5.9; might give you some idea of what you'll be dealing with.

EDIT: I see you have one of the early 5.9 3rd gens. I'll post that vid tomorrow and you can see whether you like it or not.

I have no complaints and enjoy my exhaust
