Default Newbie RAM owner!

Hello all. I just traded in my '02 Intrepid and got me an '04 Dodge Ram 1500 QC SLT 4.7 (no hemi !!!! Yay for me!! Unfortunately it's in the shop right now. Some pin in the door won't let my key lock/unlock the doors and the A/C isn't blowing cold air on the passenger side. I'm supposed to get it back today. Please tell me this isn't an omen of things to come.

I was able to drive it over the weekend and was very impressed. I was very suprised at how easy it was to maneauver (sp) into parking spaces for such a big truck. I've never owned a vehicle with a V-8 and I just luve the power it has.
so here are some pics of my new ride. I'll post them as links as I'm not sure about your forums rules for pics. I'm not sure what to do to my truck at this point. First thing to go will be the CD player then I'll add some tint to it. After that I'm not sure. Probably a chrome step bumper on each side. Any suggestions from you experts? Don't want it to be too expensive or ruin my warranty.

Thanks guys! I just called the dealer and I should be getting my truck back in a few hours. I hope this is the end of anymore problems. I'm planning on moving to Idaho in a few weeks.

Charp---

It's really up to you which direction you decide to go on mods--most guys seem to either go for peformance (intake, exhaust, etc) or improved functionality/appearance. Since you've got the 4.7, you'll get more bang for the buck on performance mods than you would with the Hemi--you tend to spend a bunch for small gains with it.

If you decide on functionality (which I've seemed to do more of), I went with Westin chrome tube steps and a Truxedo tonneau and I'm happy with both. 20's would help the appearance as well IMO.

So you like the truxedo? Can you give me info about it.. I am trying to figure out what would be best for us... We are also doing functional mods first, the Westin's are on order and I am trying to figure out what tonneau cover to go with...

I am looking for an easy to use soft tonneau that either doen't need to be bolted down or rolls up easily. The reason is because this is my fiance's daily driver, and if she needs to put anything back there I don't want it to be difficult for her to open and close the cover by herself..

Oh yeah she's ~ 5' 3" and we have a 4x4, so I think she can see over the bedrails right now.[sm=icon_quiet.gif]

*** EDIT ***
Don't I just sound rude...
Hey Alienfog, welcome!!!

STUPID DEALER!! They told me yesterday the part for the door lock never came and it won't get here now until thursday. [:@]ARRGGHH!!! I want my truck back. I'm thinking of putting an Alpine head unit in there to start. I don't think I want a cover for it though. I meant it's a truck it's supposed to be uncovered, right? I think trucks look better without them anyway. I would also like to put some "nerf Bars" on them. I think that's what they are called. They were by a company called Westin? I also have a decent 1000 watt 4 ch amp that needs to go in there somewhere.

Oh and my wife is only 5'2"! AHAHAHAHAH!!! She actually convinced me to go with the RAM instead of the Dakota. LOL!!

There are several types of tonneau covers available. Some roll up like leather and vinyl. Others are made of a hard plastic or fiberglass. If you aren't hauling alot in it....i would recommend one. It helps keep the wind resistance down and the MPG's up! If you aren't big on them, go with one that takes little or no work to remove like a leather one.

I like this style cover for people who dont like the heavy duty fiberglass ones...it's easy to use and its not really that noticable....
