Royal Purple is about as good as you can get.

Actually, a review was just posted and Royal Purple was not the best. Mobil 1 was rated higher. Ill look for the link.

Mobil 1, Valvoline or Royal Purple are all fine. Just follow the service schedule and you will never have any issues. Thier is absolutley no reason to pay more for one top brand over another because you think you are getting better protection. Buy whatever brand that scored high is priced best. You are not getting better protection because you pay a few bucks more.

Yes. They should be changed every 24,000km. Be sure to remove the covers and inspect the teeth, c clips, and clean the magnets, especially if it's the first time it's been changed. Any small metal shavings from production are sitting in there now.

I've read this one and can also Google up other ones that show RP is the best, can pull up some that show Mobil 1 is the best. First of all, AMSOIL ran the tests and I don't put too much stock in a test conducted by one of the contestants. Also, Amsoil's largest competition in HIGH END lubrication is Royal Purple, so I'm not surprised RP had such a poor showing. Mobil 1 is kinda your "common man's synthetic" but the real performance gurus tend to lean towards RP or Amsoil.

Not that I'm touting RP. I really don't think you can go wrong with ANY name brand lubricant as long as it's changed at proper intervals. I run Lucas HD conventional in the rear - as my Auburn LSD specs a conventional must be used for proper operation and I run RP in the front, but I wouldn't hesitate to run Valvoline or Mobil 1 either...

What are the magnets, and where are they, and clean them with what. Thanks

At the bottom of each Diff housing is a small magnet. You can wipe it off with a rag to clean it. Just look for any large pieces of metal.

Clean it with brake cleaner and a few rags.
