Default leaking fuel question.

2005 ram 1500,5.7 when engine is cold fuel runs out the exhaust pretty bad.like down the street! check engine light on for 2 yrs, code says oxygen sensors.other than that truck runs great.75,850 miles, guess not bad for 05. paint bubbling on both quarters above wheel well, that sucks still owe 3yrs.ain't alittle early for a 05 to rust??

Why would you be driving around for two years with a bad O2 sensor? You can get a new one for less then $40.00 and it takes all of 15 minutes to replace.

Because you neglecting your truck even with the Check Engine Light on for 2 years would lead us to believe you haven't kept up on other maintenance intervals.
Do you ever change your plugs (all 16 of them), wires, oil, oil filter, egr, pcv, cleaning your throttle body, differential fluid, etc..?

You get out of your truck what you put into your truck.
Also, when people ask you a question that can have a simple answer, but then get a wise response, they normally won't go out of their way to continue to help.

It's actually gas that's leaking out of the exhaust pipe?? If that is the case that's obviously what's killed your O2 sensors, and probably your cat as well. I'm not an engine guru (been lucky with mine) but I would guess that a fuel injector is dumping way too much fuel into a cylinder, and possibly there is a spark plug that's not even firing to ignite that fuel. But I don't know if that's possible if that were the case that the unburnt fuel would make it out the tail pipe. (Sorry for that bad grammar, hopefully you know what I'm trying to write) Something to think about and let the motor heads answer.

My 02 doesn't have a speck of rust and I don't clean it as often as other owners do, but I'm in Texas. Trucks up in the North that have the salt trucks to help clear snow and ice do have a bigger problem with rust. If you live in a corrosion prone area you will have to try hard to keep the salt off. When I was in high school (in NY) my 11 year old F 15O was more rust than sheet metal.

Does your truck have any other Check engine codes?

Ok i looked up the codes on the forum and have no idea if its bad or not. the p0420 says catalyst system efficiency below threshold(bank1)

0152 code is 02 sensor circuit high voltage (bank2)

i have noooo idea what they mean, good or bad?? or in the middle, lol!!!

some input would greatly be appricated and doing the repairs easy and fairly cheap?? thanks guys in advance..

shawn..

It's alright man, just remember to relax.

Looks like you need some o2 sensors. Like said, its about 15 minutes and involves just a wrench and unplugging one thing. haha.

It's most likely just condensation, mine spews water on start up as well. We have the same truck and engine, but I'm not sure about your exhaust set up.
