Default Steering feels strange for about 3 days?

The steering feels strange on my 2007 ram 2500 Quad cab. It feels like I may have lost some power steering function. There is slight resistance when turning left or right. The power steering pump is working. Would the steering stablizer shock going bad cause this? The truck has 70K miles

Thanks

Joe

If the stabilizer went out, then it would more than likely be easier to steer due to the lack of pressure in it. Do you have a Cummins or a Hemi? Have you ever flushed your powersteering? If not, you may just need some fresh ATF+4 in there, youd be supprised what a fresh pint will do.

Take a Turkey baster or get a 3'-4' piece of tubing and suck/siphon the p/s reservoir out and refill with a pint or so of fresh ATF+4. Yes the powersteering on these take ATF not regular power steering fluid. Start there and mabey do again in 50 miles or so and see if that makes a differance.

If you want to get it all out take the two hoses off the ps cooler and aim them into a bucket. Once it's drained then bump the ignition(don't start) and more should pump out. Then reconnect the hoses and fill with ATF+4. Turn on the car and lock the steering full left and full right, this should force the fluid into the lines and cooler and you'll notice the resivoir is about half full so just top it off and your done.

The steering fluid has been replaced and the same thing is happening. Pump is pumping so now what do you think about the steering stabalizer having too much pressure? The steering wheel wont turn all the way back to zero without help. The dealer wanted to sell me tie rods they seem to be fine with the typical joint play.

Steering box could be shot.

BTW arch, when you die can you leave instructions as to where you are buried? I wanna dig up that unmarked grave next to yours. LMAO...

I wonder how many members are too young to get that??? My 2nd all-time favorite movie next to The Godfather btw...

Well being that it feels too tight and dont come back to zero. I am going to back the nut on the gear box 1/4 turn and see what happens. I cant see wrecking anything if I was tightening it I could see a problem. Tie rods and pitman arm should not cause stiff steering? Thanks for the help

I just went through this. The mechanic I used replaced the steering shock and the problem has disappeared. At the same time the steering problem started, it also developed the "Death Wobble".
