Default How often do you change Your Oil

I was talkin to my brother in law the other day about this and for some reason it got me curious.

I included less than 3000 Miles Intervals since some People change more often than that.

I change at 2500 to 3000 Miles (Depending on how hard I drove my truck) and I use Mobile 1

I usually run Castrol GTX or Syntec Blend for 15K miles while changing at 3000 mile intervals. After I get to 15K+ miles I switch to Mobil 1 and change every 5K miles.

I originally wanted to start on a steady diet of Mobil 1, but was a little too spendy for me at the time. When I get to 15K miles, my wife will be working and we'll have some "disposable" income for me to do stuff like that.

Just as a curiosity, those that have the engine run time on the overhead console, do you keep track of it in regards to oil changes? This is what I've got so far...

Changed at 1,988 miles and 75 hours.
Changed at 3,088 miles unknown hours-dealership did it and I forgot to look.
Changed at 6,429 miles and 84 hrs 31 min.

5K, use Mobile 1 Synthetic. When I took out my Mobile 1 oil at 8K (first 5K change) it was cleaner than the stock oil was at 3K. I also use the Mobile 1 filter.

I follow Dodge's recommended Schedule "A" which is 6000 miles. I voted 5k since 6k wasn't an option.

I've always have changed mine around 3000 mi. I've thinking about switching to synthetic. What is the best practice on switching over?

You can just switch. I don't know what you mean by best practice. DC has 2 maintenance schedules for the Rams. Schedule A is a 6K requirement for normal driving conditions and will apply to most people reguardless of dyno or synthetic. Schedule B is a 3K requirement for those who drive under any of the more severe conditions listed in the manual.

I thought most people would slot into the B grouping based on thier (DC) definition. I know I do.

You're right - even the manual says most will fall into schedule B.
