Default Tailights are annoying

I've had problems with my tailights always giving me problems. Is there anything i can do to get rid of always having to change my bulbs out? I was thinking of going with some aftermarket LED's but i dont want to waste the money on them if theyre just gonna mess up too, but i'm hoping they could solve my problem

Do you know what's causing the lamps to fail? Are you sure they're failing? I've had my LED tails for five years or so, but you're right - if something's causing the failure, that's a risky experiment.

I just recently switched to LED tails last month. But prior to that, all my tail lights and headlights were original and working fine after 5+ years and 100k miles.

Did you have a moisture problem in your tail lights?

Your taillamp circuit boards are likely the issue. Common issue with them corroding.

I'm glad the 06+ tails dont have those circuit boards.

I changed out the whole taillight including the circuit board that came with it and the bulbs but I still get problems not even a
Month later. Sometimes the filament in the bulb from what I can see breaks off inside the bulb at that point I can hit the taillight and it knocks it back into place then it works. Kinda weird to me. Dang gremlins in my tail lights.

Sounds like a contact issue inside the socket. I just noticed my taillight wasnt working when I installed new ones. I took it off and when I moved the bulb around inside the socket it worked. I pulled it out, turned it around and it seemed to fit tighter and was getting much better contact. I squirt dielectric grease inside the socket before I put the bulb in place. Keeps away moisture and maintains good contact.

Try some dielectric grease and mabey a differant brand bulb. I think there might also be a PCM flash or something to correct the amperage to the taillights. But i think that usually works when the bulbs still works but throws a "lamp out" indicator. Its a buggy piece of equipment for something so simple...

Yea i'll try the dielectric grease and see if that helps. I guess sylvania bulbs just dont cut it
