Default Thermostat/Burp problems

I just changed out my thermostat and I (tried to) follow the burp how to. My issue is the coolant is shooting out of the radiator opening pretty good and I am starting to soak my CAI filter. I have the engine off for now as the temp was rising pretty high. Any suggestions? Should I just press on?

Sounds to me like your new thermostat ain't opening OR you have a clogged hose. Why did you change the thermostat in the first place? Was it an issue before the change???

My old thermostat would open "late" when the engine was started in the mornings. The temp would get over half and then open and drop to just below. I was afraid of a clogged radiator, but after taking out the thermostat, I boiled it and it would barley budge open.

However, my issue seems to be fixed. After my engine cooled, the radiator sucked my reservoir bottle dry. I top off the radiator and it isn't shooting out or running hot anymore. I guess I wasn't expecting about a gallon and a half of air to rush out at once. This was my first thermostat change.

Thanks again for the help!

I had the same problem with my 2005 Hemi, dealer found a leaking head gasket. Replaced it and solved the problem

glad you got it solved..I was going to suggest to turn the heater on and put dial all the way to hot so that it forces the tstat open during the burping process..
