Is this rod knock VIDEO INSIDE
I got all 8 from Rock Auto, aftermarket though, not Mopar. Dunno the price as I got it as part of a kit, I'm thinking I saw the piston by itself for around $40 though. BTW, the Mopar one, at the dealer is like $210 by itself. Might even be less for you, I needed domed pistons for the HO engine.
So I guess this means you ain't picking it up today???
Here's a company will sell you all 8 plus rings for under $150:

So im into it another 1300.
Got the compression back on the left side it was 150-160 across the board which is what my gauge said. Still not sure why it said that on the other side also.
But the truck should be done next week. And should last for a long time now hopefully. But im not sure if I want to even keep it now. I feel like him sitting on a time bomb waiting to go off.
What do you think?
Labor is stupid high on this stuff which is why I just went ahead and got the whole rebuild kit and am doing it myself. Whole kit was $700 to my door and aside from heads only lacks plugs and water pump. I should get away with about $1500 in the whole rebuild and basically have a new engine except the block.
Do yourself a HUGE favor and have them peen ALL the valve seats so you don't drop another one after all this sh*t!!!
To date I've got $380 in the getting the heads re-manned and $700 in the kit. I still have to buy water pump ($79), platinum plugs ($40 - HO calls for platinum) and then just oil and filters. I've already given the cylinders a fine hone. Got a three day weekend from work, so I hope to get a lot of the re-build done over the weekend...

I hope all works out for you. Wouldn't wish this sh*t on anybody.
Been an earnest Mopar guy since the late '90s but I can promise you, this will be the last modular OHC engine I ever own...

But they are getting hard to find lifted and done up nice.
Sad thing is i sold my BMW to get this truck and now I am regretting every bit of it.
The Hemi for the most part has been solid. A few broken springs in the initial year until they wised up and made them stronger, but the 3.7/4.7 is like a box of chocolates. I personally know guys who beat the sh*t out of their 4.7s, almost never change fluids and are sitting at 200,000 + miles on them. Some have major engine issues right from the get go.
I had a Ford 7.3, engine was solid as hell, front end ate parts weekly. CTD WAS solid when they made the venerable 5.9 but they still don't have the emissions crap down on the 6.7.
Make sure when they do the heads they peen ALL them seats and you should be fine. My 4.7 made it 102k before it dropped the seat and blew up, if I can get another 100k out of this rebuild for $1500 I'll be a happy camper. Some of these parts in this $700 kit look better than the Mopar ones that are 4-5x the price...

I might look into a hemi not sure yet. But after replacing all these parts the truck should at least last me another year and a half.
Oh one other thing there is some scoring on the cyl wall they said it is not bad at all so it should be okay but they wont warrenty the honing and tell me i should replace the engine in the future. Or get a short block.

Mine had a slight scratch on the cylinder wall that dropped the valve (I'm sure from the ring that split). The lightest hone took it right out where I can't even tell it'd there with my fingernail.
I'd be VERY apprehensive to pay a shop that kinda money that won't warranty their work. Either the block is repairable or it is shot, there ain't no in the middle. Even badly damaged cylinder walls can be honed and sleeved. Starting to NOT like the shop you chose, especially since your price changed dramatically from the original quote you posted up. They should have inspected the engine before throwing a price out.
Had a guy on one of my Jeep forums buy a re-manned 4.7 (PowerTech, not HO) for his GC that dropped a valve and took out the block. $1800 (after core) and a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty. Shop did the engine swap in 5 hours and he took his g/f to the beach that weekend in it. In his post he states the place he bought the engine had eleven 4.7s in stock ready to ship the day he bought his...

It's a shame the HO uses different pistons (domed like the Hemi) or I'd have given you a hell of a deal on one of my seven good ones since I decided to do a total rebuild.
I didn't have an option on the heads, since my debris went up the intake and took out the other head. I could have made do without re-doing all the other seven cylinders but at this point, I wanted a total rebuild with all new parts. It wasn't much more to buy the total over-haul kit vs. just the parts that were needed...
