Well I just contacted the shop and they just got finished honing out the cyl and it came out fine no more scoring or anything like that.

I will be picking up tomorrow thank god there were no more surprises with this truck I cant afford anymore.

Only thing left if putting it all back together.

You should be fine... I know it's VERY disheartening to have a valve seat go and take out an engine or the entire cylinder. BUT it seems to be the only common flaw in the 4.7 - and most are convinced it only rears it's ugly head either with an out-and-out overheat or, as in my case, years of driving slightly hot. My GC always wanted to run at 210*-215* with the A/C on in summer when the t-stat temp is 195*. I never thought running just 15-20* warm would do the engine in - but it will on a 4.7!

I'm taking steps so this doesn't happen (pusher fan, 2 bottles of Purple Ice and going to a 60-40 water/coolant mix) so I'm fully expecting to get at least 100k miles out of this rebuild MINIMUM! For under $2000 if I get that much out of it, I'll be way ahead of the game.

Only thing is, I wish your shop would have addressed the other seats - I'd hate to see one of the other seven let loose on you. That's why the shop I used replaced all of them...

Well remember I got a new head. Or are you meaning peening the valves if so I decided against it sense I couldn't spend another dime.

I have two brand new rocker arms if you know anyone that needs some.

Well you're not doing a total rebuild so I'd just go easy on it for the first couple hundred miles maybe.

I am going to put conventional oil in mine and go about 1500 miles and change it and see what I got - then after that, if all looks good, I'll put synthetic in and pretty much drive it like I always have...

Well I got the truck back today!!! Runs like a champ.

I got really lucky the dropped valve pieces were in the intake manifold. So I was so close to messing up the other side lol

I hope your guy flushed the sh*t out of that manifold, brother. Was chatting with a guy today lost a valve seat in a Charger and the shop rebuilt the head, cylinder and didn't get all the crap out of the manifold. Engine didn't last 300 miles!!!
