Well you won't see any MPGs gain you will lose MPGs because it's deeper gears

As far as I know you will lose MPGs all around, that's the reason I bought a truck with 3.55 gears and seeing how I never pull anything other than other trucks from the ditch or in snow and maybe a trailer once a year or boat I don't need deeper gearing but I will someday put in 4.10s and the reason not 4.56 is I don't want my truck at 2300+ rpms on highway I really don't car about MPGs but I just don't like the truck at high rpms for a long period of time

the 4.56 suppose to help the truck with power and mpg city, i read lots of people over the net especially with a ram 2500, i know the hemi sweet spot is anywere 2000 to 2500 rpm, so u telling me that all them on dodge rams forums are liars?.
thats for the 4.56 comes in!!
as far maybe the tires i have are to small (265/70-17) for the 4.56?
some 35'' are on the order list, but not now after spending almost 2k on gears.

I'm not gonna lie to you, my Hemi's a pig on gas witht the 4.56's! But it also was before and so are all the other trucks out there

If I can keep my foot off of it, I do get slightly better mileage in the city since I breeze through my first 4 gears before I hit 35mph rather than labouring through longer 1st and 2nd. It took a few miles for the transmission adjust and now city driving is seamless compared to before.

By the way, you do really want to let those break in for a few hundred miles before stomping on it. And make sure a couple of heat/cool cycles were done before they handed tou the keys.

Yea what he said.. Do short runs with it and no highway.. 25-30 miles at a time and let it cool completely before going out again... you can up the miles a little at a time.. Once around 500 miles or so its a good idea to drain the oil and replace it

AJTECH 81. Why did you re-gear? Was it for towing? bigger tires? I re-geared mine just for towing the stock 3:55 sucked. I can't speak for everyone, but here's mine fuel milages before and after unloaded 13 mixed driving. towing 8. new gears unloaded 15-16 mixed driving. 8-10 depending on the terrain. you will only see the higher RPM'S in tow/haul mode. IE @ 60 I pull 2300. Hope this helps. OBTW I don't regret re-gearing, wish I would have done it sooner.

changing gears to climb RPMs faster is in no way going to get you better MPGs. The positive through behind it is that you can climb to speed faster to level out sooner and at the same time cause less "strain" in the engine to get to that cruising speed. But again, this means you spin faster and build RPMs sooner. Even if it is 200 RPMs per gear, think about how often this happens in the city at lights, stop signs, ect.
