44044 miles? That's it Hammer? Lol gas going down at the pump go put some miles on her lol. Gauge looks sweet, just put my srt pillar in. Going to speed shop today to see what he's got for gauges. Hoping you share where you tapped in to put sensor in.

Ahh makes sense, so where did you tap into for tranny fluid temp? What extra parts you end up requiring? Just picked up same gauge as you, electronic not mechanical so what works for you should for me lol

I tapped the test port during a fluid change (why the hell the test port isn't tapped is beyond me). If you don't want to wait until you change the fluid then "T" off of the inlet tube which is the higher of the two...

What a flop this project was Hammer. Put a tee in the hot line, tried regular threads, npt threads, pipe sealant tape, couldn't stop tiny leaks. Ended up screwing up steel lines crimp so that leaked after getting the tee leaks stopped. So I had to flare the steel line and patch it with tranny cooler line. Get everything piped in, wired up gauge not working checked all wires they good and solid. Either the gauge or sender is bad.
No problem ill exchange later. Figure ill keep gauge in the pod to hide the hole till next weekend. The same gauge you have fits horribly. Did you have to mod the gauge mounting bracket to get it to sit properly ? Seems the contours of the srt10 pillar interfere with gauge sitting flush and square. A simple hour mod has turned into 6 hour failure at this point.

No, mine fit like a glove. I rode around with my wire rolled up inside the pillar for about a year and a half myself. At the cost of tranny fluid I wasn't going to drop the pan til it was due.

I've never done the "T" but a lot of guys have and I can't recall any of them having an issue. Although I'm not shocked you got a bad gauge, if it's the same as mine. After all, it's a made in China, $16 gauge. I'm sure mine will crap out at some point...

Well I figured it out. The sending unit needs to be grounded when in a tee. Makes sense as in a tee in the hose the unit is not grounded. It bugged me all day so I have a jerry rigged mess by my standards a wire wrapped around the tee going to chassis ground. With your setup does your temp fluctuate within a few seconds of going under load or does it stay fairly steady like other gauges once warmed up? I'm in my hot line out tranny, under load I peak about 185 or so on 56 degree night. Once rpms level out at cruising speed I drop to 140ish. I'm trying to be careful how far down sensor goes into the flow stream not to cause restriction in the line.
I think if its normal for temps to fluctuate like that I'm good, if I should read a very steady temp then I may not be in the flow stream enough and when I'm under load the increase flow soaks the temp sensor more.
