Proper Ride Height? 04 Ram 1500 2WD
I have been researching for a while since I would like to get some new shocks. I get want to get my truck leveled without any extra height. Everything so far seems like its adding extra height only. I also want to keep the ride similar to what is like now or better without getting stiffer.
Ok, here is the info from when I did my front leveling kit.
I have a 2004 Quad Cab with a Hemi and about 110K Miles at the time
I looked long and hard and decided that this was the way to go. I didn’t get a spacer because I thought after 100K miles new springs weren’t a bad idea at all. As it turns out a year later I made a good decision. The new springs have made the truck drive like new and the look of the body being level with the rest of the world has been good . The ride is nice and smooth and level after a year and 20 K miles

It was 300 bucks and I won’t refer you to the idiot I got it from @ something stupid strikeperformance.com
But let’s say he had made his 3rd strike and he is out.
You can get the springs right from RoughCountry.Com for 129.99 http://www.roughcountry.com/dodge_2wd_02-05_2.html
and order the shocks from them as an option or get whatever kind of shock you like they just need to be longer to fit properly.
The kit I got included the springs, Rancho shocks and a spacer block and new U bolts for the rear axle. I never put on the rear spacer because the truck sat the way I wanted it to after I installed the new springs and shocks. I sometimes think I should install the blocks. When I load up the truck with a solid amount of weight it sits low in the ***. The rear of the truck needs air bags for loading the bikes and gear to go riding, when pulling a trailer or when I have say 500 Lbs or more in the bed of the truck. It’s really an issue with the springs being worn out and placing a block between the axle would only make the truck sit stupid again and won’t help with the weight. So Air bags are on my list of things to do. The good news is you can save the cost of the spacers included in the kit by ordering the springs alone. You can spend a fortune on shocks if you choose to do so. I have the Rancho 5000’s that came with the kit and they have been fine, no problems, no issue, and I never thought that I wished I had gotten something else. A stiff ride doesn’t mean a good ride. And with these springs and new shocks you get a great ride.
I took the time and painted my springs, Basically because I thought it was cool when I saw other trucks that had different colored springs so a painted them with a shaker can. Now I’m pretty good with a shaker can and the secret to painting is in the prep. But they haven’t flaked or faded and look great. What’s the point of spending 129 bucks for new springs if you can’t show everyone you got them. I also painted the calipers on the disks and think it’s a good look for a few bucks.
You have to have the alignment done right away, like the next day. So do your install with the next day open to be at the tire store and get that alignment. Also, I am fairly good with my tools and I have all of the stuff I needed to do this job and it still took me the better part of the day. I didn’t race to get it done and I let it take all day but this doesn’t happen in an hour. Be safe, use a good strong jack and good jack stands. That Hemi and the trucks front end is heavy. Don’t lead yourself into a bad position with 4 thousand pounds in the air above you.
I always clean everything in the area whenever I am working on something. So I cleaned the inside of my wheels and likely polished my wheel wells and suspension parts to a high gloss. You probably could do the whole job in a few hours. That’s just the way like to do things.
Over all I am pleased with the new springs instead of the cheesy spacers. When I got the old springs out I found I already had some of those cheesy spacers. Spacers might help level the truck but doesn’t do anything for the reason the front end is diving and that is the springs are worn. New springs are the way to go.

I hope this helps, I don’t often respond to these forums although, I do refer to them often. But since I had a positive experience with this I should pass it on. I felt like it was my duty.
