4.7 wont stay running in cold
hey y'all im new here so bare with me. im stationed up at minot afb and if anyone knows that place they know how unbearably cold it gets. well since joining i bought a 03 1500 w/ 4.7 big difference since my truck before was a 02 2500 24 valve cummins. any way in the winters when it gets about 20 and lower my truck doesnt want to run by its self and i have to keep my foot on the throttle and i figured id try to fix it before this next winter coming up due to having a 9 month old daughter, id like to have the truck idle and warm up for me. any advice id greatly appreciate it.

Hey 227.... I had an '02 that wouldn't idle very well when I got it.... turned out to be a gommed up "Idle Air Control". Its a sensor on the right side of the throttle body as you are looking at the engine from the front of the truck. All I did was take it off the throttle body (two screws) and took some carb cleaner and a brush to it.... didn't miss a beat after that. Give it a shot.... a cheap fix if thats the prob.
