Your point is a valid one, however, your way of "asking" is about as obnoxious (to me) as what you are griping about! Perhaps you can be the next UN ambassador?

Come on... Dodge's entire existence for some time has been spun around performance to some degree, often a great degree. I'd suggest, as others have, that you might consider a thicker skin. Though I own three hemi-power vehicles, I've others that can blow their doors off. Just the facts of life if YOU (or I) hang on the edges of performance motoring.

All the best with your 4.7!

Look guys, there is nothing wrong with my sense of humor or the thickness of my skin. I love a good clean joke. But what bothers me is feeling like me as a person (not just my truck) and my intelligence or judgment is being called into question. I have a masters level college education and common sense as well. I am not stupid. I know how to make the best choice for me. But it just seems that some have the attitude that the Hemi is the only and I mean only way to go and the rest of us were just dumb to have bought anything else. That is all that bothers me. The Hemi is a choice and it is not for everyone. In fact, Consumer reports which is an unbiased source, was not that impressed with it. Let me quote directly from them. They said and I quote, "The overly hyped 5.7 liter Hemi V8 makes the Ram fairly quick but also very thristy, averaging a paltry 11mpg. The 4.7 V8 and automatic transmission make a reasonably smooth combination." Lets see now, hmmmm, let me think. In one sentence, the Hemi is described with words like fairly (not very) quick, very thirsty, overly hyped and paltry. My good ol 4.7 is described as reasonably smooth. Well, you see, not everyone thinks as highly of them big ol Hemis. I think there is nothing wrong with my judgment and it seems consumer reports agrees with me. Lets all stay friends about this stuff O.K.? And oh yeah, just to show you that I do like a good joke, if you Hemi guys really want to see performance go and jump a new 05 corvette. Now that baby is performance. It would run out of sight of my truck and yours both. I love performance, but my wife has promised me the right to get another sports car in the future for that area. My truck is my daily driver. You want fast, get a car boys!

geez...

HERES MY REQUEST..

Enough with the whiners on this forum.

Heres a helpful hint not to get your ***** busted any further... dont compose any more 500 word essays saying how your feelings are being hurt in one way or another...no car guyz on ANY forum will care if you are getting upset because people crack jokes about an inferior engine. You can solve this all very easily though....rip out that little 4.7 and put in a 5.7!!!! uh oh

Nah, 05ramlaramie, you keep that overly hyped, gas guzzling, good for pulling only motor. I will stick to my 4.7. By the way, if you want a Hemi, why dont you go out, save several grand and buy you a real one. Those things are Hemis in name only. Compared to the old ones it should be called a her-mi not a he-mi. Find yourself an old cuda or something with the 426 in it. Then you will see what is worthy of being called a Hemi. I'll just hold out for a real one. You see, I too can take it and dish it. Bring it boy!

Actually that just goes to show you that your educational background still shows how little you still know, obviously you can go to college and still not learn somethin'! The old and new ones were only called Hemi's because of the shape and type of combustion chamber they use. And as for consumer reports not being biased, your way off on that one... they are as biased as any other group that gets freebies and handouts could be. Plus like I have posted before, I have a HEMI and I get 14-15 in town and 18-19 on the highway, I drive like a manic and live in the dallas/ft. worth metroplex and its at least 75 miles from one side to the other and a ton of traffic in between, so their numbers just dont add up.

Your problem with your choice of the 4.7 is that now that you got one your feeling inferior to all of the rest of us dumb hillbillies that were smart enough to buy the "hyped" motor that still outruns your 4.7 while pulling a trailer full of our cousin loving siblings...

YEEHAW!!! (poke poke poke jab jab jab)
Keep it up and we will just keep pickin that scab of yours till you bleed to death.

Aint this fun!!! HEMI's RULE!!! hehehe

"Come'on man, floor it!"

LOL! I dont give a flip about the shape and type of the combustion chamber. I am talking power and torque. When it comes to that, the new hemi is a hemi in name only when compared to the original 426. The old 426, especially if it was tweeked right, like my Dad said his old 426 hemi used to be, would scare people buddy! The new ones arent even close at least not yet. We'll wait and see about the new 6.1. I have driven a hemi rumblebee and while it is more powerful and quiciker than my 4.7 I wasn't a bit scared and not impressed enough to just have to have one. You guys with Hemis have nice trucks no doubt but they aint all that and a bowl of cherries when it comes to an awesome buch of power. I'll still keep my 4.7. Remember, lets stay friends guys and keep it clean. You can keep after me if you want, i will play along just dont cuss me or nothing please. Young baptist preacher here. Cant stand them there cussins.

I have the 4.7 and I'm loving it!! So I could've got a Hemi but they were a little too much for me at this time. Maybe the next truck I get will have the Hemi.
You should expect people to "bust your *****" for getting the 4.7. I expect it. I also know that the Hemi owners are just kidding around. I've found quite a bit of useful infor on this site even with the wisecracking Hemi owners. Hell, I think most of the info I've rec'd from this site is from them.
So just relax, put your feet up and enjoy your 4.7 as I do.

hey mgsouthwest and I quote you "Those things are Hemis in name only" and then you say "I dont give a flip about the shape and type of the combustion chamber" HELLO!!! that is what the HEMI name means... HEMISPHERICAL... doh!

And then your trying to compare apples to oranges I mean look at the cubic inch difference between the HEMI 5.7(about 350 cu. in.) and the 426 = 426 cu. in. If there isnt a power difference between those 2 then there would be some kinda rift in the space time continuim and every 4 banger in town would be makin 350 Hp!

Dude you need to get a grip and realize that a low 5 second 0-60 time and a mid 15 sec 1/4 mile time for a full-size pick-up is damn good. Alot of those late 60's and early 70's muscle cars(stock, like most of our HEMIS are) were in the same area or less performance wise PLUS I guarantee that I can stop faster, pollute the air less and probly out-handle most of them too! Technology is a wonderful thing and it has the tendacy to make things better... but you would know that Mr. masters degree.

You know what, my dad has a masters in mechanical engineering and is actually a genius, he could build and design an automobile but he still cant work on his own car or fix his computer when it bugs out on him, he calls me, mr. no college education. So spout all you want about being so educated, for all we know your masters is in art or english or religion for that matter or some field that has absolutely nothing to do with anything that is useful in the automotive world.

Experience far outweighs any sort of education in my book.

Oh and as for driving something that is scary, how about driving an older dodge charger(or any old MOPAR with a HEMI or not, doesnt matter) and getting it up to 100 mph and then trying to get it to slow down using 4 drum brakes around you with a curve coming up on you fast, now that is scary. Glad I dont have that feeling when driving my truck(which is basically the same thing as a Rumble bee minus the ugly yellow and the plastic ground effects)!

To me your fighting a lost cause, take your lumps and go on because your not going to change things around here, thats plain and obvious.
