Wont start after blinking dash lights
Just finished a 1700 mile road trip, on the way home, I kept hearing a warning ding followed by flashing lights on the dash, the following lights were intermittently lighting up in unison with the ding I would hear. ABS, Airbag, and Brake...
I stopped and got fuel, turned off the truck and when I went to restart, the truck would only turn over and not fire up... I unplugged the batteries for a minute and it restarted. The rest of the trip home (150 miles) it continued to ding and blink those lights... Truck is now thankfully in the driveway but will not start.
Whats going on?

Also, I forgot to mention that on the way home, the little red light that is between the temperature and speedometer was lit up the entire time and may be an issue as well. Strange thing is I don't think my truck has an alarm...

There is a transponder in the key, and also a receiver in the column. One or both of these may be bad. My '06 would start, then stop a couple seconds later. Then it would just crank, and not start. After a few tries, it would not even turn over. After I disconnected the battery for a few minutes, it would start with no problems. That happened intermittantly for a couple weeks, then just kind of went away. But someone told me about the key thing, and it made sense to me. Try your spare.
Thanks for the tips, The engine cranks over but does not ignite, there seems to be plenty of power coming from the batteries... I tried the spare and it did not work. Is there a way to make a DIY code scanner that a dealer would use? I made one for my Mercedes and saved alot of money.

Also, the red light does not light up when Im trying to start it, and all the mentioned flashing lights are not showing now... ABS, brake and airbag lights were only intermittent on the drive home and the security light seemed to be only for the last stretch of the trip. I checked the ABS controller connector and it looked dry and un-corroded
I have the same issue, was there ever a resolution?
I bought a 2006 Dodge Ram3500 cummins, 6sp. As I am driving and hit a bump all the gauge needles died and then the truck died. At that point the security light was flashing and the truck would start for a second and then shut off. We cleaned all the battery cables and made sure they were good, tested the batteries and they were good as well. The only codes I have are:
B210db Battery Voltage Low U0019 Desc unavailable B212DB Ignition Run Only Input Circuit Open C1008C Brake Fluid Level Circuit High C2101C Battery Voltage High C2206C Vehicle Configuration Mismatch U0002 Description Unavailable
I had the stealership make another key and that didn't work, the only thing that works is to press lock and unlock on the key, then get out of the car and lock it with the key and then unlock it. But I don't understand what is loose to make this happen in the first place.

The most common issues I've seen:
- Bad Battery
- Bad/Corroded Main Ground(s)
- Bad Security Module [aka Ignition Immobilizer] (truck thinks it is being stolen)
- Key lost programming [Most common if you had a magnet or something in your pocket or you put your keys down near a magnet, happens a lot to welders]
- Ignition Cylinder is not reading the Key Fob programming anymore
You guys should also look for any technical service bulletins as some might apply to this problem. I haven't had a chance to look yet.
