2008 5.7 hemi 3500, no crank, no ignition
Dealer called bright and early this morning. They say the TIPM is shorted out, cost to repair $830. With the towing that works out to a cool grand. Color me unimpressed with "Totally Integrated Power Modules"; the old relays were a LOT cheaper.
Yup---my 2005 is a box full of relays, far as I know, that is the last year they had them, but they are a heck of a lot cheaper to replace than the whole computer module-----a REALLY lousy design.
I didn't want to feel like I was post whoring and blaming the tipm for every problem, but chances are for electrical situations, it's the tipm.
Sorry i didn't call it sooner than the dealer. While you can get them cheaper by few hundred bucks, you would still need the dealer to configure the setting to your truck so you would really only save $1-200 and then get no warranty. Atleast you have a 1yr/12kmi warranty with the new one.
