Sounds like every hemi i`ve ever heard.
You`ve got a 5yr, 100,000 mile warranty, just drive it an dont worry about it.

Yup, normal to me. My '09 has sounded like that since new.
Glad I have lifetime powertrain warranty anyway.

I hear it....Mine does NOT sound like that. Matter of fact mine is really quiet compared to that one. Bring it back in and see what they say. However yes you have a warranty so drive it 'til it breaks.
If everyone's engine knocks like that, I must have something wrong with mine to be as quiet as mine is.

Heard nothing odd. If next to a wall you will hear all kind of noises going on in a engine.

My '07 and '09 sound exactly the same. It sounds more like sound pitch vibrations, as mentioned, from surrounding objects.

I understand you can here valve train noise, etc. but this is a clear definite knock.

Question.., it goes to the dealer on Tuesday, if they determine it's a knock, and decide to pull engine apart to fix, is that acceptable? Now I have a brand new ram, with a rebuilt hemi. I don't want a rebuilt engine in a brand new truck.

IF its an engine problem let them fix it. It's hardly a rebuilt engine.

Dropped it off at the dealer. Left for work. They called end of day saying they didn't hear anything. Came back the next morning and started it for them, it was knocking. Dealer said "Oh ya, we heard that yesterday, because the clearances in the engine are so large, I think it's the piston moving around causing that noise, probably normal". Ok, lets go startup another Dodge Ram, We did, and it didn't make the noise (it sort've made the noise, but it was VERY VERY faint). Service manager said he would contact engineering and ask them what they think. He says engineering will probably tell me to wait till 5000km's before fixing anything.

He says this is common, it's called Hemi Knock. I said.. umm, I've heard of Hemi Tick before, and I know that's common, but havn't heard of Hemi Knock before. He said replacing the heads will fix it. I don't think so, this is a lower end knock.

So, waiting to hear back from Dealer on next steps.

I agree that you need to put some miles on it. G.M 4.6 V8s had a terrible knock when new. G.M. said wait until 2500 plus miles, change oil and then see. Actually they said after 2500 miles use Mobil1 (don't know why)and then see. The ones I had heard it went away with miles and oil service after 2500/3000. The few I was involved in did not ever get engine work. You have it documented. Now drive it and wait,do a oil change and not too soon, then see what it does.

Ya, I agree also, that's what I'll do.
