All I did was drop a K&N filter in my factory intake and could tell a big difference, well in sound that is.
That is prolly one of the best setups. Keeps the filter clean in the stock air box plus lifetime warranty plus its actually colder air. My first CAI was the stock box with an exhaust tube bent and shaped to fit painted the tube lime green and it looked better and maybe even preformed better than my POS short intake.

Ya I was really surprised when I heard the difference
Mine is routed back into the tube but on most of the ones I've made for folks, I put a breather filter on. Nobody to date has reported any issues and I've had some of them out there since '06.
question, i was thinking about doing that pvc style intake, but how does it function like when it freezes out side, i herd they build up quit a bit of moisture, and i would hate to be sucking in water
Interesting setup. I routed mine to the stock airbox with a K&N. You can't see it in this pic, but I just stuck a breather on the end of the small hose that connects to the airbox...
