Default Vibration through the gas pedal???

Hey all, newbie here. Just bought a 2007 Ram 1500 Hemi.

First thing I notice is a vibration or even rattling that's coming up through the gas pedal. Could it be the rack and pinion?

Second question, this isn't my first car, but I'm wondering from my fellow Ram owners, how can I tell if I need new shocks? I ask because it seems like my Ram over-reacts when it hits bumps or indentations in the road. Sort of like it's getting thrown around a little.

Thirdly, and I know this belongs in another section but...do the Superchips tuners have an adjustment for high altitude? I'm wondering because I live in Wyoming at 8000 feet.

I know that's a lot of questions for a newbie to be asking right of the bat so I'll just say thanks in advance and I appreciate any feedback you can give.

How many miles? Does it do this when turning the wheel? In days gone by, movement in the loud pedal meant a broken motor mount. The pedal is not so closely coupled these days.

Some people change shocks every 50K or so. I change mine when it gets too sloppy or too stiff. Can't stand spending money before I'm sure it's needed.

Sorry, can't answer the SuperChips question. Mine's an '03 and tuners don't work well enough to warrant the expense.

Shocks - I just changed my stock ones out few months ago. They would do the same exact thing you described. But I had no excessive bounce to the truck other wise. I was replacing them preventatively, that's when I found they were bad. Couple would not expand back out themselves, one was very easy to compress together. My advice, find some you like and change them.

No answers for your other questions.

Thanks for the response! It's got 150K miles on it. It vibrates all the time, not just when I'm turning. And I can feel it coming up directly through the pedal.

Thanks. As soon as I get some extra money I will change them all out. Is it a difficult process or should I just get Big-O to do it?

Sorry for the double post.

No high altitude setting on superchips. You shouldn't need it either, your pcm should compensate and adjust for the less dense air on it's own.

LOL @ this thread... Vibration......
big O.... Wtf lol. Shocks are simple to swap. 30 minute job, if that long. Pretty much four bolts in the rear, the front is a little different, but if you look at it, it's simple.

Thanks for the reply. Honestly, I'm not super mechanically inclined, that's why I asked if it was an easy job. Can you recommend a brand of shock to get?
