Default New TO ME Dodge Ram

Everyone.... I just joined the forum after buying my first ever Chrysler product.

2008 Dodge Ram SXT 4X4 5.7 Hemi....I'm sure some of that must be redundant and you will set me straight.

It has 70,000kms and a factory tow package.

I traded in a 2006 Honda Pilot for this truck as I bought a work trailer that the Pilot did not like.

I find that as I get older I have become less brand loyal....I now look for the best fit for the best price.

I think I got it with this truck.

It looks good and pulls the trailer like nobody's business.

I am a complete DIMyselfer so I will be around the forum as long as I own this truck.

Hopefully no emergency postings....I like preventative maintenance.

Thanks for the welcome.

I doubt I'm going to bitch it up apart from a tonneau cover and maybe some new speakers.

But I welcome any technical advice to keep the beast roadworthy.

Oh....and the truck is black. I swore I'd never own a black vehicle....but here we are.

7 days in and it's already filthy.

I have owned at least one of every major, non luxury brand in my life. Never felt married to any of them. My other two vehicles are toyota 4runners. Love them but wouldnt trade my ram for one. By far the longest i have ever owned and driven a vehicle.

I love my RAM too even if she takes a ton of work maintaining up in the salty NY winters. If you enjoy the hemi power you may find yourself doing some modding for more :]. Also if you're interested in speakers, we've done a lot of builds in regards to that too, so feel free to ask.

I can only imagine. There seem to be lots of rusty Dodges up here in snow country, as well.

I've already had the tailgate apart for a good corrosion inhibtor party.
I'll go through the truck bit by bit inspecting and protecting.

Without getting all "performance" on me....what's a good, reasonably priced shock absorber for this truck? The rears have evidence of leaking and I find the rear kinda bouncy.

Another question....does the factory tow package include any suspension mods? Stiffer springs or some such?

Rancho 9000's are a good shock/ strut for the price. They also are adjustable so you can stiffen them up for towing and soften the ride for daily driving.

Welcome aboard! While you are having this party, hit the insides of the rear wheel wells.
