Yeah tune your truck with the programmer, then at that point it will lock the tunner to your truck then you can download the software on your computer then download the trans tune.

 

So today i ordered the superchips cortex for my "christmas" present. i called the tech service first to ask a couple questions. First i asked them about the trans tune and how will this help my truck with the way it shifts when i am towing. He replied that it will only change the initial shift points on take off and nothing for o/d or the way my truck hunts for o/d in tow mode. Other superchips owners have told me slightly different info. Second thing i was told by others is that i would be able to tune my truck to run on 87 octane and he told me this is not possible. Is there anyone out that that has a 04 Ram 1500 Hemi with auto trans that has the cortex and can tell me everything it has done for you. I still purchased it because i wanted a tuner and it did seem the best for other mods i am looking for but i am curious about others experience. Thanks.

 

I think you might have gotten someone that had no idea what they were talking about...

I would call them again and talk to someone else that might be more knowledgeable....

 

merry christmas to me.. i got my superchips. i installed it and chose the towing quick tune as to the reason for purchasing the tuner. i still have to buy the transmission tuner but i have to say i was kinda disappointed in the drive after downloading. from what i have read, i thought i would have seen a difference in throttle response and a general awakening of the hemi but the most i noticed was a little better in the shifting....less lag in shifting. Is there something i am missing? on the main screen there were 4 options, 91 performance, towing, 87 tune and one other i can remember right now. so i chose one. Should i have gone with advanced tuning and not quick tune?
