Get the front wheels off the ground and try to move the wheel in and out by holding the top and bottom of the wheel..... so you will basically push the top inwards and bottom out and then alternate.

That's how you check for bad wheel bearing install.

I would have my alignment checked and adjusted if needed, but I'd also have the brake rotors checked to see if they are warped, and last but not least I'd have the balance on my wheels checked.

If you have old Wrangler model tires check right near the rim for dry-rotting which might indicate the tires themselves are shot....

Can't really tell you what else to look at without seeing it in person.

Just wanted to update the thread. Turned out to be the front u-joint. I've only drove it a little while but it seems to be pretty smooth now. I'll post an update after I have a little more seat time.

Ouch if that was the problem you better be glad you didnt tear anything up in the drivetrain!
