Default how bad

i have an ebay cold air intake for my truck laying around and ive been deciding wether i should put it on or not, and its the design that connects to the "hat box" thats connecting to the throttle body, now ive always herd people say the hat is restrictive, but looking at mine yesterday i could fit my fist into and and touch the inside of the throttle body without hitting any baffles, so my question is, does that hat really take away power?

The Hemi Hat is restrective. Alot of people can fit their fist into there. Now look with your eyes.... there is cuts taken away from the top to redirect some of the air, and to put a little different indirect spin on the air. So that automatically takes away from any CAI. Your really not going to drop the Temp being drawn into the motor with a cheap CAI and Most simple DIY CAIs, the real gain you get is a little cooler air with alot more air being sucked in. If you have the Hemi Hat with a CAI you may notice some gains but more than likely harldy any. And not near as much as one without the hat would see. If you want to get rid of the hat its not hard Home Depot has what you need to connect your new CAI (from Ebay) to the TB with no Hemi Hat. And if you decide to keep the hat thats cool to.

Then again you do have a 4.7 so the hat may not be designed exactly like the Real Hemi Hat

Idk how much room you are trying to make up for but you may be able to just get a coupler to make up for the room if not maybe a small piece of PVC.

Do you have any pics of the 8 inch Tip lol i wanna see one on a gas?

you have to drill a hole in the pvc and put a grommet on the IAT sensor and silicone it in the hole
