Default Tow Hooks

Since winter is around the corner now. I was wondering where I could find a tow hooks with the brackets cause I look in the front of my truck and also the rear and I couldnt find anything. I also couldnt find the hook slots. Would I have to cut a square type hole? Or something.

Someone help me out!

Thanks!

DillyS07 aka Dillon.

They are a big long bar with 2 hooks attached. You take out the entire length panel that is on your front bumper. At least from what I have seen looking. You can find some on ebay, maybe others will have better places. But it should be sold as one long bar with 2 hooks

Stock hooks are hard to come by used. New they are $160ish.
The actual hook part is somewhat useless as it's an open hook and VERY close to your bumper which makes using them hard without scuffing your painted bumper. Worst design ever.
Most Mopar online sales places sell them. A few have discontinued even carrying them. 2006-2008 are not compatible with any other years that I know of.

Using 2 hooks on each frame end with no support bar is not reccomended. You can bend in/out your frame rails. I advise against doing this as the front ends are not as string as 2500's for this.
You have to pretty much take your bumper off to install the towhook bar.

I would say just get some heavy duty D ring shackles and weld those up. Idk if I used the right terminology but what Hammer has is what I'm referring to

Haha. How much does winch usually cost? Ive seen them around 300 to 1,000. If I were to get one, Id probably pay about 300 thats it. Can anyone send me a link to an affordable winch?

Well you need the mounting hardware too, don't forget it, it's important to have a VERY solid mounting point.

As for actual cost, it all depends on what weight/force rating you want.

Do you want to be able to pull your entire truck out of a ditch or just maybe an ATV?

In these areas, you certainly get what you pay for, so read carefully and make sure you're getting everything you need to install it safely and securely.

For mounting you can always just get a cradle that goes into the receiver hitch. But then you can only pull from the back unless you get a hitch installed up from as well

I have a 2004 1500 OEM setup that I removed to add brake scopes for the CAI. If you are interested let me know. I can email you some pics.
