I have have a 2002 Ram 1500 5.9 4x4 sport with no heat. He is what I have done/

replace:
thermostat
waterpump
radiator
heater core

Checked the two actuators to ensure they are moving. The heat/cool has a linkage arm that controls two doors together and the defrost / dash vent door Both motors function fine (even took them off and moved the baffles by hand). All doors seemed solid. I checked the piece that links the actuator motor to the door, they aren't stripped or even loose.

At this point I am out of ideas. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Does the heater hoses get warm/ hot?

 

The out flow hose was cool so I pulled both hoses and flushed them and a chunk come out on the hose going to the core. Now I'm worried about what else is floating around being that I just spent so much replacing everything.

Note I know this was not the original problem just a new once from the install of the heater core.

 

Sounds like maybe you got the heater hoses on backwards

I had no heat, after doing basically the same as the op, ctaktak.
no heat, until i switched the heater hoses. Been a week +, and, i still have heat.

 

you should back flush the core with a garden hose, being careful on the amount of pressure used.
and you should used some coolant system flush, like prestone. The fluid amount of your system will dictate using 2 bottles.
Since the core is new, and if you dislodge the particles from the core when back flushing, you may want to isolate the core out of the circuit when you 'flush' the engine. Back flushing and getting a decent flow out will eliminate the question of core blockage.

 

After back flushing I now have heat! the chunk that cam out was big enough to block the transition between the hose and the core. just happy I have heat again. Thanks for the help.

 

which way is backwards? lol i have same issue but havent had time to accually go look haha

Flush from both inlet and outlet to/from the block respectively... that's usually how it's done.

 

i finally got to flushing the heater core, and i put in a new tstat just incase, and still no heat, its warm for like 5 sec when i turn it on then it goes cool again? bad heater core maybe? or blender door? im out ideas and almost outof time because its getting in the highs of 20 here and i have no garage :/
