heres the thing. a flowmaster muffler on a v6 will sound just like a v-8 at idle. once it gets up there in the rpm's it will get a sort of "ricy" sound if you will.

Do yourself a favor and dont get the 40. Actually do me the favor and get the 50, then tell me how it sounds.
At 2700rpm you'll start looking around to see if people are staring. I have a 6 manual, so I at least I can get away by shifting at below 2500rpm, I hate to hear the AT when flooring it. Honestly I dont know how offsets or dual exit makes any difference. Maybe it does and I dont know. I have SingleSideIn/SingleSideOut. If center would hit differently, will it make a different sound? I dont know.

I also think that maybe its the size of the muffler. Then 40 is only 14" long while the 50 is 17" (the case). The stock is like 20 something I think and honestly the stock sounded nice when floored. So maybe length has something to do with it too. I wish I knew all about sound and dimensions.

Hope it helps, believe me it's coming from experience. I'll see if I can make some sound clips.

Yeah, i just had installed a hooker exaust, dumped it right in front of the back wheel, no point in trying to look like a v8 too, n e way, sounds sweet under 3000, then after that it sounds like an airplane, stock was definetly better sounding above 3000, only good thing i can say is that now i will get better gas mileage, simply because i wont get it above 3000 anymore, **** the power band is at 5200, whatever, least ill know if anybody steals it

yeah pretty much, but i did notice more power over bridges today, seems to have a little better torque at a lower rpm, but only over bridges that i have noticed a difference. I lent my g tech to my freind( for his honda) when i get it back ill do some runs and post any differences, NEWAY if there was a way to keep the original exaust and just make it a little louder, that would have been sweet, now i might have to get a resonater to quiet mine down, of coure if there is a difference in my performance, well i can deal with the noise, its not that bad

true duals is two mufflers. thats one thing you do not want to do in most any naturally aspirated truck.
