Miles Per Tank

Miles Per Tank
I bought a Ram 1500 4.7 quad short bed 2wd 64000 miles about 2 months ago and am trying to see what others are getting out of a full tank. I ask because the dummy guages tell me I am estimated at about 320 miles after fill up. With the fuel guage buried on E, I have filled up to 22.16 and 22.02 gallons. If this is supposed to be a 26 gallon tank, is it not filling up all the way or am I missing something? There is no damage to the bottom of the tank either.
I do mostly rural city driving, getting about 13.5 to 14.5 mpg. Per tank I get between 300 to 320 actual. By my shanty math, it is either not filling up all the way or the fuel guage is off. The only thing I can find on here is threads about the gas pump kicking off early, but I'm not convinced that is the issue. Nor am I convinced there IS an issue!

most vehicles have a reserve below the E of about 10%... 20ga tank would be 2gal, 30gal/3gal.. ect.. 26gal tank has almost 3gal after the light illuminates..
my concern would be the content of that 2.6gal... or, the wear on the pump if you regularly allow it to operate under 1/4 tank (dang thing relies on the fuel content to cool it, stupid engineers)..
you're likely not going to 'run out of fluids', but you may in fact 'run out of gas'..

you realize that when the Gas Light comes on you have enough gas to drive another 20-40 miles which equates to somewhere around 1.5-3 gallons of fuel... so 320 miles is about right... if you really want to see what you get out of a FULL tank.. then drive till the engine dies and then walk to the nearest gas station and get a gas can...
I usually get about 320 for 22-24 gallons of gas (89 Octane)...
