ha... good stuff. The procedure posted by dodgecares I thought was for 4lo too, but I have a manual transfer case so maybe that's the difference. I shift from 4hi to 2 hi while moving pretty frequently, maybe that's a bad thing...

From the owners manual for a manual transfer case
2H ⇔ 4H
Shifting between 2H and 4H can be made with the
vehicle stopped or in motion. If the vehicle is in motion,
shifts can be made up to 55 mph (88 km/h). With the
vehicle in motion, the transfer case will engage / disengage
faster if you momentarily release the accelerator
pedal after completing the shift. Apply a constant force
when shifting the transfer case lever.

I thought that was right for a manual transfer case

It is my fault for assuming the OP was using 4L. When he said it disengaged when he came to a stop that is why I assumed that. I should have asked and still am not sure from the original post. I guess he probably meant 4H since he said it worked before while on the fly in a later post.

No Clue... He'll have to specify for sure if he has the electronic or mechanical switch/lever...

yeah,, sorry guys. i'm switching from 2 wheel to 4hi it goes right in. when switching back from 4hi to 2 wheel on the fly is when it has the delay, untill you stop. and it never did before, it just started this year.

my switch is electronic,, on the dash too.
