Is there anything I should worry about when switching from conventional to synthetic?

Thanks for the info DirtyDog. Either way, I still don't recommend mixing of any kind. I have topped off with a different weight oils before when between oil changes because that's all the gas station had on their shelf. I was always under the impression it was the other way around. I guess I stand corrected.

my truck does not have MDS by the way. And yes you want the thinner oil in the winter.

"Quote" Why waste an expensive bottle of Synthetic for that? Just use conventional and save some money.
What i would reccomend even past that... Pour 1/2qt of marvel mystery oil in the engine and drive for 100miles before your oil change. This will break most of the residue that would take the Synthetic an entire oil change to do. Then I would still pour 1qt of conventional to clean out the bottom of the pan as it always has risidual dirty oil that doesn t drain out.

Because using cheaper oil would leave some in the engine.. the idea was to remove all the conventional oil.

I thought the idea was to remove all of the remaining dirty oil?
Eitherway, your still cleaning out the dirty residual oil at the bottom of the pan and the small amount of Clean conventional that is left will not bother anything. Clean conventional is way better than remainder of dirty and chunky oil at the bottom.
Most cheaper Synthetics as explained above are mostly made of conventional yet they call it Full Synthetic. So if your using Castrol, Valvoline, Pennzoil Synthetics, it doesn't make a bit of difference.
Mobil 1 is made entirely out of Base IV stocks so it does not apply to Mobil 1.

Do as you please, but when I change my Full Synthetic oil every 5kmi, the oil is still plenty clean where I dont have to waste a qt of oil to rinse out. If you go that long where a flush/rinse is needed, then your running your oil too long. The only thing a rinse is going to hurt is your wallet. Everyone has their own way and there's nothing wrong with it!
