Do our trucks "beep"?
#11
There is absolutely a beep.. its almost like a cell phone going dead type beep, but very faint.. mine was definitely behind the dash, and left of center around the steering column..
It sounds like what is is, actually, which is a diode on a circuit board.. it never caused me any grief so I never bothered tearing anything down to find it, but it should be easy to narrow down identifying it as a diode, because there aren't that many circuit boards in that area..
In all fairness, mine may have been coming from a brake controller mounted next to my obdii port.. it is without any doubt, though, coming from a circuit board.

DodgeCACares: There is a beep, like mentioned it sounds like a dying cell phone. Believe me, something goes "beep" not ding, and it isn't related to any message.
This happens entirely at random.

GRNDPNDR,
I apologize for the miscommunication as I am not disagreeing with you if there is or is not a beep. I am advising under normal operating conditions there should only be a beep under the circumstances mentioned. If a beep is occurring and not related to normal conditions, you may want to have it diagnosed by a Dodge dealer for further investigation if you feel it is necessary.

Okay, I mis spoke.. a diode doesn't speak.. I used bad terminology..
It's the beep that is heard from a tiny soldered on speaker.. the kind that are soldered to the board, and are tiny tiny.. much quieter than a motherboard on a computer, and more like the kind found on dc devices such as a ir heat gun, or a battery base charger..

GRNDPNDR,
A beep or a chime should only come on if seat belts aren't on, oil change indicator light comes on, engine light comes on, etc. and in those cases a light or message will appear on your dashboard.
When the doors lock after driving you are able to hear them lock, however there is not a beep.
If you continue to hear the beep and there is no message why, I would recommend contacting your local Dodge dealer for further review.
If you have any additional inquiries feel free to PM me.

Beeping Dodge
So now is February 2014, and we still didn't solve this mystery...
... and we want to fly to Mars ?!
I bought my young-mom daughter a 2005 Caravan SE .... and it beeps ....
1) while driving
2) at any speed, any temperature, any belts on or not, radio on or not
3) irregular pauses between beeping
4) sounds like a smoke detector's battery goes low ( = piezo buzzer)
5) no warning light to go with it, no performance change
6) and its certainly not the wind....
OK, I haven't "changed a diode" yet, because I am an EE....
Lets keep looking.

Fun old thread.
My truck also does this just as the doors lock for the first time after starting at 15ish mph. Sometimes it is louder than others but it does not sound like something that Mopar put there on propose. Just some artifact of a solid state driver or the coil itself. Luckily it is only .1 seconds of every drive so I can put up with it.
seifeiloh, I think your is something else. Maybe try disconnecting the buzzer first?
