Slipping in reverse
So maybe I waited too long to ask you guys some questions.
I have been noticing an increase in slipping in reverse and wonder if there is something other than a rebuild could help. Might need it by now so I am desperate to make sure I am not missing some sort of adjustment I can try. I just now read that there is a filter in my return hose. I am not sure if that actually applies to my truck but if it does I do not know how to identify it's location.
I changed the fluid and pan filters about two years ago. At that time I was experiencing disengagement sensations and cruise disengagement. Turned out that was a TPS problem. I fear the big one this time. I have only bad experiences (Eagle Transmission) when having to have a trans rebuilt.
Any and all suggestions humbly accepted lol..

Well I've got a different transmission then you, the infamous 46RE, but I had all but lost reverse and a band adjustment solved that problem, for how long? Who knows. But reverse works perfectly again.
Sadly, I think a rebuild may be your best option. Hopefully this is the one any only time you need this done. Also.. never sit on a problem thinking it may go away, even if its a small whistle... tell someone. Little problems grow into big repairs if ignored.
Thanks to the holidays I have time to try something before seeking a rebuilder. I am capabile of turning a wrench as I was a tech for about 14 years. Got out about 8 years ago but kept all my tools and boxes. So if someone could give me some help getting a band adjusted and finding that hidden inline filter I would apprecieate it.

I totally didn't know that. What a crock of **** by Dodge....
Not just Dodge, dude. There's a lot of manufacturers that don't have adjustable anything anymore.
Hell, I know FOR A FACT that the older Ford Explorers had a sealed transmission, meaning you had to take it in to have the pan dropped in order to top off any fluid lost.
