Default New Tires Rub

Hi

I have a 2008 Ram 1500 ( Big Horn ) 4 wd. Just purchased Toyo Open Country 35/12.5/20. Town Fair guaranteed me they would not rub. However at full turn there is some rubbing. Would adding wheel spacers 1/4 inch ( or larger) be the easiest solution versus lift kit or offset wheels ?

You could try to cut a portion of the wheel liner to prevent rubbing.

If its only rubbing a little during full turn then don't worry about it- my 35 BFG's rub on my factory 17's on my '05 Hemi on full turn too and it hasn't caused any grief what so ever.

Spacers would definitely be easier, but from what I've seen in the forums, they are not worth it because they are dangerous. I won't use 'em.

Have a look at how close they are to the upper ball joint/control arm...from what I've read anything wider than 11.5 will be rubbing there, all the time.

Not true. I'm running 305's which equate to just over 12, and I have no rubbing what-so-ever

That's because, assuming you have an 04 like under your name suggests, you have a completely different front suspension from the OP (his being an 08).

You have torsion bars, he has struts.

Easiest, sure. Advisable? Not in the least, especially on a 4x4. I would highly recommend the Bilstein 2" lift struts. Easy to change, looks better than stock ride height and should help your rubbing issue.

I ran these same tires (but made by nitto)

I wanted to chime in on spacers:
I've been using 1.5inch adapters on my Ram, with a full lift and 4.5 inch backspaced tires -12 offset. These adapters have survived jumping, high speed off roading, and everything else me as a 17 y/o highschooler put it through.

You need a 2" lift/level
