Default 2007 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Transmission

Transmission takes a couple seconds to start going when I put it into gear in the morning. I was going to perform the band adjustment but I can't positively ID my trans as a 46, 47 or 48 RE? No info in my Chilton book and I searched till I got aggrivated on the internet and DF site.

Can anyone help?

Walkereod,

If you'd like to PM me your VIN#, I can send you your vehicle's buildsheet, which will be a list of the options the Ram came equipped with from factory. It will have the transmission information I believe you are looking for.

If it's a diesel, it's a 48re if it's a 5.9, 68RFE if it's a 6.7.

Sounds like the drain back valve is leaking

Any idea what might be happening to my transmission to slip like that first thing but work fine the rest of the day? I drained fluid and replaced filter and added Lucas transmission treatment to it and it still takes a couple seconds to start working first thing in the morning. 125,000 miles.

Scat, you mean the check valve on the transmission cooler line?

I do. I've heard the valve occasionally gets some debris or something that hangs it up a little, I've never had it happen with mine. My 84 crewcab does it bad though.

Is the valve itself on the torque coverter cooler where the cooler line screws in?

I have an 07 & 1/2 diesel with a 68RFE tranny. Since you have been researching what you have maybe you can answer what I keep getting different answers too. Does this 68RFE require band adjustments? I have see no. now like most all other transmissions but my book says yes but it had the old tranny that yr with the 5.9 and the new 6.7 Cummings that I have. They switched over in mid yr and I keep getting conflicting info.
