Default What is the proper name for the clamp that attaches to the battery terminals?

I checked my battery out today to do some routine work and found that the negative terminals clamp thingy has corroded and cracked. What is the proper name for it so that I can call the stealership and get a replacement? Reason I'm calling them is because I want the exact same thing that was on there. The positive terminals top clamp thing is fine. I wonder this has something to do with the fact that every now and then, when I turn the key to start the truck it hesitates and I hold the key forward for a moment and it eventually starts. Doesn't happen often (first time this year) but it's happened on two other occasions too.

Ah so the things that attach to the tips of the batteries are themselves the terminals. Can you recommend somewhere online that I could get an exact replacement? This is a 2007 dodge ram 2500 hemi

Can I just go pick one up from the local autopart store? I have a feeling that my truck wont start in the morning since I tried to remove it but once I noticed it I put it back and it doesn't look like it's got good contact anymore due to the crack.

Or look in the yellow pages phone book to find a business that does nothing but batteries they will carry heavy duty ones and will even install usually much cheaper than you would think..

just make sure you have the tools to reconnect the new one... can be a major pain to get it all hooked up right sometimes, specially if there is corrosion.

The aftermarket ones from auto parts stores work pretty well... I like the ones with the **** that acts as a shut-off switch
