headlights stayed on after i shut them off

That is because you have a 2002.... I think it is only 2005+ possibly only 2006+, because of the TIPM system...

My 2002 does it. Turn of the key with the lights on, they stay on even when the switch is shut off. For a minute or so. Scared the hell out of me the first time I did it by accident.

also, OP, what package(s) do you have on your ram? mine has the SLT
i suggest requesting a build sheet. tells you almost everything about your vehicle.

mine also. For the first week or two that I owned the truck I had to keep going back and checking if my lights were turned off.

Since I was randomly shutting off the engine and the lights, it didn't always happen and I was confused.....

It was literally like 3 weeks ago that I learned how they actually work.

I also learned how to turn off horn chirp when setting the alarm, which is good since I recently installed air horns and was in the habit of setting the alarm when I was directly in front of the grill.....

I no longer startle myself or hear that annoying ringing in my ears







Are you going to answer that?

On the 2002 1500 they are supposed to work this way:

If you turn off the headlights, then the vehicle, the lights should stay off. If you turn the ignition switch to the off position then turn the headlight switch to the off position, the headlights should stay on for a minute or so, then go out.

Exactly how mine work too. and it is an 02.
